Creating a Climate Wise Garden in Canberra

Did you know there is a Canberra Plant Selector Tool? The free online tool will help you choose suitable plants that will thrive in our climate and provide a habitat for native animals. Choosing the right plants in your garden will help protect the city against extreme heat, rainfall events and bushfires. Find out more.

If you want to learn more about building a garden for the future, there is a free in-person workshop happening on Wednesday evening. The workshop is presented by local landscape architect and founder of The Climate Factory, Edwina Robinson. It covers topics including water harvesting, improving soils, planting for winter and how to use the Canberra Plant Selector Tool. Details here.

News: There’s a New Temporary Tidbinbilla Visitor Centre

The visitor centre at the Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve permanently closed last year. The building was plagued with persistent water leaks and residual moisture and it had become unsafe for staff.

A new demountable building has been installed at the entrance as a temporary visitor centre so you’ll once again be able to chat with staff in person when visiting. Planning is underway for a new permanent Visitor Centre.

Entry to Tidbinbilla is currently free until further notice. Autumn is an excellent time to visit the reserve!

Next time you see a show at Canberra Theatre, why not try Cicada Bar’s new Compact Menu designed especially for an express pre-show dinner (and cocktail). The kitchen opens from 5pm Tuesday to Saturday and is just around the corner from the Theatre. Details here.
