New Eats: 🌮 Jarochos on Lonsdale Street

Cesar Francisco Corripio has been serving authentic Mexican food from the Jarochos food van for the last few years. Now, Jarochos has its own restaurant offering authentic Mexican breakfast, lunch and dinner. Jarochos on Lonsdale Street is soft launching this week before the grand opening this weekend. This Weekend: 🚙 Rally of Canberra

The 2024 Bosch Motorsport Australia Rally Championship is kicking off this weekend in Canberra. The Rally of Canberra is held across the ACT with multiple spectator areas, and there will be a Rally Show and Ceremonial Start at Gungahlin Place this Friday 5th. Details here.


Coming Up: 🚴 Five Peaks Bike Challenge

The non-competitive Five Peaks challenge is a fundraising ride for the Murrumbidgee Canberra Rotary Club. You can choose to ride the 88 km route or the 120 km route; both include six peaks, and you can also tailor your ride by selecting as many or as few peaks as you like, allowing you to customise both the distance and climbing intensity. Electric assist bikes are more than welcome to take part. The Five Peaks challenge is happening on Sunday 21st April. Details here.

Over 250+ small Australian businesses will be selling their wares this weekend at the Handmade Market. It’s happening at Exhibition Park this Saturday and Sunday. Details here.

Something to do: 🍷 Wine, Paint & Pizza

As the name suggests, Wine, Paint & Pizza is a fusion of wine, art, food and fun. Whether you’re an experienced painter or a complete beginner, tutor Stephen Clively will guide you through the process. At the end of the night, you’ll take home your creation. The next Wine, Paint and Pizza night is happening this Friday at the Canberra Art Workshop Studio in Griffith. Details here.

The Unauthorised Harry Potter Experience, Potted Potter is coming to the Canberra Theatre this week. The Harry Potter parody has played to over a million muggles worldwide, including an ongoing Las Vegas residency. It’s happening from the 4th to the 7th of April. Tickets here.


This Week: 🏳️‍🌈 Mardi Gras Film Festival

The Mardi Gras festival is coming to Canberra this week with 7 screenings happening at the National Film and Sound Archive. Details here.


On Now: A Century of Quilts

A Century of Quilts showcases an often-overlooked art form made almost exclusively by women. The exhibition includes the National Gallery’s most requested art work: The Rajah quilt. The Rajah Quilt is a large quilt that was created by women convicts in 1841 whilst travelling from Woolwich, England, to Hobart, Australia. The exhibition is free and is on now until August. 🐶 Meet Solomon

Meet Solomon, a super-friendly 2-year-old young pup who’s now available for adoption from the pound. Solomon is looking for an active household where he can be included in the daily adventures. As Solomon is still a young man, he is looking for a family that has the time and patience to train and socialise with him.
