Changes were introduced in the Legislative Assembly, requiring all bars and nightclub venues to use security cameras. Footage must be kept for 30 days for privacy and must be deleted after 90 days at the latest. Licensed venues will need to display a sign indicating patrons will be recorded.
The legislation is aimed at deterring violent incidents and supporting police investigations. More.
In sad news, a man has died after an incident at Casuarina Sands. The 23-year-old was floating on rafts on Sunday when he fell and disappeared underwater. He was pulled from the water by members of the public, and CPR was performed. Sadly, he passed away yesterday afternoon in the Hospital. More.
Celebrate Canberra's emerging fashion designers in a collaboration between The Green Shed and Civic's new arts hub, Blank Space. Several designers have created outfits sourced only from secondhand materials, and their creations will be modelled on the runway. Tickets here.
Try your hand at social deception games at 1UP (Reload Bar in the City). Unlike board games, there is no requirement to sit at a table; instead, you'll move around and question strangers. Games played include 2 Rooms and a Boom, Secret Hitler and Werewolf. Newcomers are very welcome. Details here.
The Canberra Museum is hosting an evening celebrating Canberra-made games. Local developers will be showing a wide variety of tabletop, digital and VR games for you to try. RSPCA - The RSPCA is selling Christmas Trees at their ACT shelter in Weston. They are available during opening hours, and money raised goes towards caring for abandoned, abused and neglected animals spending the Holidays with the RSPCA.
Canberra Region Farmers Market - Trees will be available from the farmers market at EPIC on Saturday morning.
Southside Farmers Markets - Trees will also be available at the Southside Farmers Market, which runs every Sunday.
