Former long-time ACT senator Zed Seselja has failed to be selected to fill the Liberal Party's NSW senate vacancy. Zed moved from Canberra to NSW to have another shot at returning to parliament after he lost the safe liberal Senate seat to independent David Pocock at the last election.
In his video pitch to NSW Liberal members, Zed railed against "the woke indoctrination of our kids", immigrants, and cancel culture. Perhaps Zed will try Queensland next. More.
Geocon will soon start construction on a new $300 million development in the City. The National Capital Authority has approved plans for the 3 buildings featuring 332 apartments and three commercial offices. The site is opposite the Canberra Olympic Pool.
The plans faced opposition from nearby residents who were concerned about overshadowing and traffic.
The development will have a rooftop pool, gym and yoga studio, co-working space, cinema, dog wash and library. It remains to be seen if these amenities actually make it into the final build. The plans are available here.
The Canberra Chill went down against the Brisbane Blaze (1-4) in the final of the Hockey One Grand Final. The Chill went into the final as underdogs, with Brisbane having finished on top of the table and having been in the final for the third time in as many seasons.
Canberra United lost against the Newcastle Jets 3-4. Canberra is currently sitting at the bottom of the A-league table.
The Canberra Cavalry's (baseball) season hasn't gotten off to a great start. They lost their first home series against the Melbourne Aces 1-3.
They will be back in action against Perth Heat this Thursday 30th at the Narrabundah Ballpark.
