News: Suspicious House Fire in Chapman

Firefighters were called to a house fire in Beaumont Close in Chapman at 8:10 on Saturday morning. Nobody was home at that time and the house was badly damaged. Police are treating the blaze as suspicious.


Sport: 🏑 Canberra Chill Qualify for Finals

The Canberra Chill Womens Hockey Team have qualified for the finals of the Hockey One League with a 2-1 win over Melbourne. The Chill Mens team failed to make the finals this year.

The finals are on the 25th and 26th of November at the ACT hockey centre (Lyneham). You can also watch matches live on 7Plus.


On Today: Harvest Store at the National Arboretum

The Friends of the Arboretum are hosting a small harvest stall featuring jam and chutney made from the Arboretum forests and the Discovery Kitchen garden. It's on from 10-2pm. More


🥬 Sunday Markets

The Haig Park Village Markets (Braddon) are hosting a Smoke and Sizzle Showdown with Claystone Meats. There will be cooking demonstrations and a BBQ cookoff.

Old Bus Depot Markets (Kingston) is on from 9:30am - 2:30pm.

Southside Farmers Markets (Phillip) at Canberra College runs from 7ish to 11:30am.


🥐 New Eats: Pialligo Bakesmith

The Pialligo Bakesmith is a new bakery and cafe. The cafe is run by Natalia Van den Bosch who ran Le Bon Melange for years before selling that business. Expect freshly baked French pastries, pies, tarts and more substantial brunch and lunch options. The cafe is located where the old Farm Shop Cafe used to operate before the Pialligo estate went under.


🖼️ On Now - Archie 100: 100 Years of the Archibald Prize

The Archibald Prize is the most sought-after accolade in Australian Art. Discover some of the best and (most controversial) portraits that have been awarded the prize. The National Portrait Gallery is currently hosting this travelling exhibition. It's running until January 28th and tickets are $20. Details here.
