✈️ News: Man Allegedly Broke into Canberra Airport and Stole Vehicle

A man allegedly broke into Canberra Airport, stole a van and escaped by driving through a fence. The 31-year-old from Canberra allegedly scaled a fence to gain access to the restricted area of the airport on the 29th of October.

The man handed himself into the police on Monday. This follows the recent incident of a person gaining access to the runway after they missed their flight.


🏆 News: Canberra's Genesis Owusu wins Album of The Year at the ARIA Awards

Canberra singer Genesis Owusu has won the Album of the Year Award at this year's ARIAs for his album Settler.


News: Another Person Has Come Forward with Allegations Relating to Johnathan Davis

A second person has contacted the Greens with allegations related to the conduct of former ACT Greens MLA Johnathan Davis.


News: Brindabella Christian College in Carpark Trouble

Brindabella Christian College has been told by ACAT to chain up its car park and cease using it at the end of the school term. This has come as a result of BCC privatising public land without proper development permission to build a new car park. This is a win for the Lyneham Community Association which has long opposed the college's appropriation of land not belonging to the private school.

This isn't the first time BCC has been involved in controversy - they have been investigated by the ACT Human Rights Commission for breaching child safety principles, allegedly using uncertified structures as classrooms as well as getting into over $4 million of debt with the ATO.


🍔 Phillip's Maccas and Metro Service Station to Open on Friday

The combined McDonald's and Metro service station, located on the old Magnet Mart site on Hindmarsh Drive in Phillip will open this Friday.

The Woden area has lacked a McDonald's with a drive-thru. The other McDonald's in the area is in Westfield Woden.


📕 Word of the Year is "Matilda"

The Australian National Dictionary Centre selects a word each year that has risen in prominence. Last year they picked 'teal' as it was a common term during the Federal Election. This year 'matilda' has been chosen. After this year's World Cup, the word has been cemented in our lexicon. More


Tomorrow: St Clare of Assisi School Fete

The St Clare of Assisi (Condor) School Fete is a bush Christmas theme. There will be carnival rides, a hot rod display, a petting zoo and lots of food and beverage stores. A local choir will be performing Christmas Carols. The fete is happening this Friday 17th November from 4pm to 8:30pm More.


Tomorrow: Friends Trivia at Reload

Reload Bar is hosting Friends Trivia this Friday at 7pm. There will be a best Janice impersonation contest, an 'I'll be there for you' singalong and free drink giveaways. $5 entry charge and make sure to book. More.

The Festive Lane Markets are happening this Friday 17th to Sunday 19th in the city. Santa will arrive at 7pm on Friday heralding the start of the city's Christmas season. There will be market stalls with homemade crafts, ornaments and unique gifts as well as a variety of delicious eats.
