An AirTag tracking device has led Police in Canberra to a large haul of allegedly stolen e-bikes and electric scooters. 21 bikes and scooters were recovered. The owner of a stolen e-bike called the Police when the Apple AirTag attached to the bike sent out its location. More.
The ACT Government has released a list of the most popular books borrowed from public libraries during 2023. Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus was the most popular fiction book. Spare by Prince Harry was the most popular non-fiction book. The full list is here.
This Sunday, there will be a fireworks display over Lake Burley Griffin to welcome the New Year. Unlike previous years, there will only be a 9pm fireworks show, and there will be no midnight fireworks in Canberra.
This map shows the best locations to watch the fireworks around the lake. There are three hubs: Regatta Point, Commonwealth Place and Rond Terrace. There will be music, food stands and portable toilets at each of the hubs.
Fireworks will also be visible from other vantage points around Canberra. These include Black Mountain, Mount Ainslie, Kingston, Acton and Red Hill. More details.
The Commonwealth Avenue Bridge will be closed during the 9pm fireworks.

It looks like the weather will be fine for the Fireworks tomorrow. There will be a top of 22° and a low of 10°, so make sure you bring a jumper or jacket if you’re sitting outside.
