Work will soon begin on the Ahlei development in Braddon. The site at 90 Northbourne Avenue is opposite the Midnight Building. The existing building was held under a joint ownership structure, resisted selling, and was in somewhat of a state of disrepair. It took 3 years of negotiations to work out a deal.
The new 9-story building planned for the site will be a mixed-use development featuring 105 apartments, including 24 studio apartments. There will be a minimum of 122 car spaces, and the building is right next to the Elouera Street Light Rail stop. The plans are here.
A new axe-throwing venue has opened on City Walk. Maniax combines Axe Throwing with a bar and restaurant. It’s located above the Central Social Club. Maniax operates 10 Axe Throwing venues across Australia. Details here.
I’ve been sharing some New Year’s Eve event options:
QT Lounge is hosting a Sky High New Year’s Eve party. Tickets include a 4-hour beverage package, substantial canapés, Champagne on arrival and floor-to-ceiling views of the fireworks. Details here.
Coastrek is a fundraising walk for Women in support of The Heart Foundation. The walk is done in teams of four, and you can choose either a 30km full-day adventure or a twilight 20km trek. There’s a 12-week training program and a passionate community to get you fit and ready. It’s happening on March 15. Details here.
