The North Canberra Bowling and ACT Rugby Union Club (known as the RUC) has been reprimanded and fined for gambling violations. The venue allowed a person to gamble who had either self-excluded or was at risk of gambling harm. They were fined $5000 and will need to undergo additional training and an external audit.
Most of the popular swimming spots that were closed due to heavy rain have now reopened. However, Kambah Pool and Murray’s Corner are still closed. Water quality testing showed elevated bacteria levels in those waterways. Details here.
There are no known wild Koala populations left in the ACT. The ACT Government launched their conservation plan on Thursday. It includes baseline monitoring of potential populations, the evaluation of a captive breeding program at Tidbinbilla, and the identification of key habitat refugia for restoration. More.

Lakeside Bar, Margot is launching their new summer menu today, which now includes wood-fired pizza and frosé (frozen rosé). The Al fresco bar will also be hosting a New Year's Eve celebration, which includes a glass of champagne on arrival as well as a perfect seat to watch the fireworks. Details here

The ‘Discovering Ancient Egypt’ exhibition is now open at the National Museum of Australia. There are over 200 artefacts on display that cover over 3000 years of Egyptian history. The exhibition will run until September 2024.
