Around Canberra: ⛲️ Fetherston Gardens

Tucked away in Weston Creek, you'll find the urban parkland oasis of Fetherston Gardens. The gardens were originally part of the CIT School of Horticulture and opened in 1974. After the school closed in 2009, the gardens were handed over to the public. They are now maintained by a dedicated group of volunteers who have worked over the last 14 years to restore the gardens to their former glory. Details here.

Something to do: Jugger

Looking for a unique sport to try? Jugger, inspired by the 1989 movie The Salute of the Jugger, is a fast-paced 5 vs. 5 sport where players use padded equipment and teamwork to guide an unarmed teammate to the opposing end of the pitch to score points.

In Canberra, Jugger is played in Haig Park each Sunday, with sessions open to everyone. Details here.

David Frazer 'Solace': Master printmaker David Frazer's new series of relief prints stem from a collaboration with singer-songwriter Tom Waits and explore themes of love, hope and the passage of time. More.

Live Music: 🎢 Sundowner

UC Cuts: The University of Canberra will axe at least 200 jobs in an effort to cut $50 million of expenditure. More.

Queanbeyan Pound Outbreak: In sad news, the Queanbeyan Pound was forced to euthanise 21 dogs due to an outbreak of canine parvovirus. Parvovirus is highly contagious and deadly to unvaccinated dogs. More.

Royal Watchers: A larger-than-expected crowd of around 4000 people (and one alpaca) welcomed the King and Queen to Canberra at the War Memorial yesterday.
