What is this page?

This page shares details of an event which was posted on Facebook, sent to me via email, or where the organisation doesn’t have a website.

Many Canberra Digest readers are cutting down on social media. Because some events live only on Facebook and other walled gardens ☹️, people can’t always view the details without an account. When possible, I publish the key info here so it’s accessible to everyone ☺️.

You can still click through to the original event page, when available, if you prefer to use that platform.

Anthony

P.S. If you have an event coming up and would like a page like this to share with others, just email me the details and I’ll put it online.

Up Close with a Steam Locomotive

March 8, 9, 10

On March 8, 9, and 10, you can get up close to locomotive R766 when it refuels between trips to Bungendore! Visitors can take photos of the engine in steam while it's topped up with oil and water, and our friendly volunteers will be on hand to answer any questions. It's also a rare opportunity for visitors to walk through the storage yard, an area normally closed to the public!

Seeing the locomotive refuel is included in standard admission to the Canberra Railway Museum, so why not check out our collection while you're there! You can find us at 2 Geijera Place, Kingston, just a 5 minute drive from the railway station!

Refuelling sessions take place at: 10:30am-12pm, 2:45pm-3:30pm. Please note these are indicative and subject to change at short notice

Visitors with strollers or mobility impairments, please note it is a roughly 300m walk from the museum entrance to the refuelling point.
